IVF in Switzerland
Fertility treatment in Switzerland is governed by the federal Reproductive Medicine Act (FMedG). This page gives a general overview; ember's country rules list official sources and check dates.
What is generally possible
IVF and ICSI with your own eggs and sperm are available. Sperm donation is permitted for married couples, including married female couples since 2022. Preimplantation testing is allowed under strict conditions.
Egg donation and surrogacy
Egg donation and surrogacy are currently not permitted in Switzerland. Political discussion about allowing egg donation continues, but proposals are not law. Many Swiss patients therefore look at clinics abroad.
Check the details
Rules change and depend on personal circumstances. Use the sourced country rules and confirm with a clinic or legal professional.
